Brazos River Park Phase Three Inauguration Set for April 11 in Sugar Land.
On April 11, the City of Sugar Land is set to unveil the third phase of Brazos River Park, located at 18427 Southwest Freeway, with a grand opening celebration commencing at 4:30 p.m., as detailed in a recent press release from the city.
The event will start with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting and brief remarks from local officials. Visitors are urged to bring picnic baskets and blankets to take advantage of the new facilities and spend a delightful evening in the park. The new features encompass a sheltered pavilion complete with seating, BBQ grills, a sizeable playground, and paved walkways. The expansion of the park aims to cater to the growing demand for amenities that support the active lifestyle of Sugar Land's residents and attract regional visitors, thereby bolstering the local economy.
The project secured funding through a voter-approved initiative in 2013. By collaborating directly with Sugar Land-based playground supplier Fun Abounds for equipment and installation, the city was able to save costs using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant funds.
The surrounding area also offers recently opened attractions, such as the Pump Track, which opened its doors on March 25, and the Go Ape Zipline and Adventure Park, which partially opened on March 11. Both attractions will be open to visitors during the event.
The grand opening is open to all residents, with the first 100 attendees being treated to a voucher for a free cold dessert.
